STARTING SALARY upwards of $39,837 plus $2,000.00 sign-on Bonus

The Police Department is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position as a full-time Police Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrols Town streets in radio-equipped patrol car, or on foot to preserve law and order, to prevent and discover the commission of crime and to enforce motor vehicle operation and parking regulations.
Answers calls and complaints involving automobile accidents, robberies, and other misdemeanors and felonies.
Performs preliminary investigation of law violations, interviews witnesses, gathers and preserves evidence, arrests law violators, commits arrested person to jail and presents testimony in court.
Prepares daily activity reports and other detailed reports as necessary.
Checks business establishments to prevent theft or other irregularities.
Serves warrants, capiases and subpoenas.
Sets up and operates electronic speed-checking device, intercepts violators and issues citations.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Possess Valid Class C NC Driver’s License. (required)
Completion of requirements established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council for the Basic Law Enforcement Training Certificate (BLET). (required)

Supplemental Information:
Successful completion of a physical examination including drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, driving record, and authorization for release of information and personal history statement are required as a condition of employment.
