-----What's Included in Maricopa County Shelters Pet Adoption?------
Upon entry at the shelters, most dogs are given a 4-in-1 vaccination, Bordetella vaccination and flea/tick treatment. Adopted dogs ages 3 months of age and older also receive a rabies vaccination and County dog license/tag as part of their adoption fee. Cats receive a 3-in-1 vaccination when they arrive at the shelters (cats are not required to be rabies vaccinated or licensed in Maricopa County).

All animals adopted from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. If the cat or dog you adopt has not yet been altered, he/she may need to stay an extra day or two for surgery.

Puppy & Dog Adoptions
adoption fees range from $0-$300 depending on many factors, including the
animal's age, length of stay, behavior and medical condition, public demand and
our capacity for care. We waive or reduce our adoption fees thanks to the
support of our partner groups and donors. Animals that have a high public
demand, those that we call Shelter Super Heroes, carry a higher adoption fee,
which helps offset the costs of care and treatment of those animals who have a
more difficult time finding the right family. The following is a list of our adoption
fee guidelines:
Six months of age and younger: $300
Seven months of age and older and more than 20 pounds: $50-$150
Seven months of age and older and less than 20 pounds: $75 - $200
Shelter Super Heroes: Up to $300

Sterile Dog License for Senior Citizen owned dog - $10 (Owner must be 65 years or older)
Altered Dog License Penalty - $3 per month
Unaltered Dog License Penalty - $6 per month
