EMPLOYMENT TYPE:Full time; exempt

The Accounting Operations Manager reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a high-volume Accounts Payable (AP) function, which largely resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Support the team in accomplishing the day-to-day full cycle AP process, including timely vendor payments within established terms
Ensure accurate, timely publication of AP related reports
Support internal customers by addressing requests and inquiries timely
Lead and manage departmental employees, including the hiring, training, development, performance evaluation and counsel, and compensation administration according to company policies and procedures
Implement company initiatives, including automated solutions to drive payment efficiency
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, including a review of processes impacted by the recent system conversion to Microsoft Dynamics AX
Prepare operating budget and monitor spending for adherence to budget
Develop, and report monthly, department and employee performance measurements
Develop, implement and maintain procedures and guidelines to ensure adherence to company policies
Provide documentation and support for external audit
Work with all levels of the organization to answer financial inquiries and resolve outstanding issues
Maintain proper record retention according to company policy
Other duties as assigned by senior management
This position requires overnight travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado (approximately 20%).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field, preferred
5+ years accounting/finance/shared services experience
2+ years in a supervisor or management position, preferred
Creative and strategic thinker, grounded in company processes, with ability to identify issues and take initiative for process improvement and problem resolution
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Customer-oriented focus
Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow
Versatility, flexibility and willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm
Demonstrated ability to supervise and / or motivate employees
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX and Laserfiche a plus
Experience managing remote workforce a plus
Experience in a high-volume, paper-centric and fast-paced AP department a plus
