Gulfview Retreat is a totally renovated, raised cottage in Galveston's historic East End, one block from Seawall Blvd and a short walk to Galveston Pleasure Pier. It is perfect for Houstonians looking to get away for a long weekend, for visitors wanting a one-week summer vacation, and for our snowbirder friends who often come to the Island for a month or longer. We have many guests who are associated in one way or another with UTMB, many from the LGBT community, and many who like the idea that they can bring their dog along with them. We have welcomed visitors from across Texas and the US, from Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Enjoy the breeze and the view of the Gulf of Mexico from our covered front balcony. We are 5 minutes to the Strand Shopping District, Cruise Terminals, and UTMB. The home is designed to be casual, with all the conveniences our guests expect from a vacation rental. It is decorated in a colorful, retro, mid-century modern style, with totally refinished hardwood floors, modern appliances, and original artwork by Houston area artists. Amenities include: Central AC, on-site washer/dryer, granite countertops, all modern appliances in kitchen, flatware/dinnerware for 12, free local phone calls, free internet access, all linens, towels, beach towels provided. We provide DIRECT TV in the living room, as well as in both bedrooms. We have been pleased that our guests enjoy their 'home away from home' and we strive to make your stay with us relaxing and enjoyable. Since the managers live full-time in the neighborhood, we are available should any questions or concerns arise. We're glad to recommend our favorite restaurants, beaches, and excursions. We pride ourselves on having the house clean and ready at the time of your check-in. We ask that you treat our home the way you treat your own home (eg we ask that you load the dishwasher and empty the trash at check-out). Since we love dogs, we don't charge extra for your bringing your pet (s) --2 max. We have a new, totally-fenced dog run that goes around the property, and your dogs will love being one block from the beach!
