Machinist I - 2nd Shift

Sargent Aerospace & Defense products are found on many major Commercial and Military aircraft in operation worldwide. Products and systems include hydraulic actuation and valve systems, locking actuators, steering metering control valves, fuse pins, hot forged bolts, pneumatic ducting and valve seals, tubing system alignment joints, engine hot section and structural components, airframe components, shock strut bearings, Teflon lined spherical bearings and broad component maintenance, overhaul, spares logistics and power-by-the-hour support services. Sargent is also a major supplier of hydraulic control valves to the US Navy on all Nuclear Class Submarine programs. Sargent has an immediate opening for a Machinist I.
Purpose & Scope
This position supports operational excellence in the machining processes to drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement. This role will be expected to collaborate with the Sargent team to exceed organizational goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
Model Safe behaviors at all times
Follow company quality control standards to include in process inspection
Knowledge of safety standards for equipment being run
Must have ability to work well with others in a team environment
Monitor operations and quickly react to non-confirming as they occur
Produce and inspect parts
Deburr own parts using machines such as milling, drilling, grinding and other machines as needed.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Understanding of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics.
Basic understanding of technical drawings, work instructions.
Basic understanding of measuring & inspection
Must be a U.S. Person
Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Manufacturing experience preferred
Machining related courses preferred
